Fairhaven Long Term Care

Established in 1960, Fairhaven is a 256-bed Long Term Care Home offering high quality and compassionate care. Fairhaven is jointly owned by the municipalities of the City and County of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. The redevelopment of Fairhaven finished in 2003 with Residents and staff moving into our “brand new” Home on January 27th of that year. Fairhaven has established itself as an innovative organization committed to continuous quality improvement that serves the people of the Peterborough region. As the needs of the community have changed, Fairhaven has responded by expanding its scope of services and reaching out to serve the continuum of needs in the long-term care field to individuals of all ages. Our Home is a provincial model for the design and delivery of highly specialized programs and services, to its Residents and to other organizations in the community and beyond. Our Resident and Family Councils provide for direct representation concerning issues which impact the quality of life of individuals residing at Fairhaven. Fairhaven’s Committee of Management (COM) has endorsed the formation of a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) Diversity Initiative Task Group at Fairhaven to support the goal of creating a sustained culture of opportunity, equity and inclusivity for individuals of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions.
