Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region (Habitat PKR) is looking for a full-time Truck Ambassador.
In this role, together with a colleague, you will drive the Habitat truck to pick up donations for the Habitat ReStores from homes, stores, offices, etc. As the first in-person connection between the ReStores and our donors, you are the face of Habitat PKR in the community. As such, your manner conveys professionalism, friendliness, and appreciation for our donors. You will screen donated goods for suitability and decline product tactfully, preserving the goodwill of the donor. You will also deliver customer purchases to homes, offices, etc. and assist with unloading, sorting, and transporting items to Habitat ReStores in Peterborough and Lindsay.

The Opportunity:
- Day shift
- 35-40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts
- Monday to Friday (weekend availability)
- Drive to pick up donations, according to a predetermined route (i.e., homes, stores, corporate offices, etc.) and drop-offs to sites (i.e., ReStore locations, customer homes).
- Operate the truck in a safe/responsible manner, adhering to legal driving standards/laws
- Ensure truck is maintained, functioning safely, and kept in a clean condition
- Deliver exceptional customer service to donors, customers, volunteers, stakeholders, etc.
- Screen donated goods for suitability and decline unsuitable product tactfully, preserving the goodwill of the donor
- Adhere to pickup and delivery schedules, providing input for routing and vehicle capacity
- Represent Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region as a Truck Ambassador by modeling our values and guiding principles
Salary: $18 - $21 per hour

What You Bring:
- 3 years experience driving vehicles of 16 feet or greater in length
- Letter of driving experience from previous employer (for insurance purposes)
- Must be 25 years or above in age (for insurance purposes)
- Valid class G driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract are required
- Exceptional customer service experience with the ability to deal with the public
- Friendly, approachable, and helpful demeanor, with the ability to communicate well with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and walk, stand, sit, stair climb, and travel on a regular basis
- Competency in the assessment of condition for the resale of furniture, appliances, home improvement materials, building materials, etc.
- Safety shoes required: CSA approved safety footwear to be always worn
- Works well as part of a team and in a self-directed capacity
- A good ambassador of the Habitat PKR program
- Trustworthy, punctual, and has a good attendance record
- Acceptable Police Records Check
- Ability to work a flexible (day shift) schedule, including the occasional Saturday shift
